Rae Ann Aldridge appointed as Executive Director, Safety & Risk Services

In her new role, Rae Ann will be charged with working across campus to enhance UBC’s safety and security. She will be responsible for leading Safety & Risk Services, a new department which is the result of a merger between Risk Management Services and Campus Security.

WorkSafeBC acknowledges receipt of the Employers full CAIRS report regarding an incident at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Compliance Achieved (asbestos report received by WSBC) – Heather Pavilion @ VGH

The employer submitted a Notice of Compliance (NOC) to WorkSafeBC on September 16, 2019, describing the steps that have been taken to comply with order to provide an asbestos risk assessment for the space occupied by UBC workers at the Vancouver General Hospital site.

Inspection Report (IR) received from WorkSafeBC requiring the employer (UBC) and owner (Vancouver Coastal Health) to conduct a risk assessment on asbestos-containing material in space occupied by the UBC Division of Infectious Diseases in Heather Pavilion, D floor, Vancouver General Hospital.

Compliance Achieved (variation request for 3 JOHSC) – UBC Okanagan campus

WCA requires one JOHSC for every employer with more than 20 workers. UBCO requested a variation to this and has been allowed to create three JOHSCs.
