Celebrate Safety@UBC: Safety Day is Coming on October 1, 2019

What is Safety Day?

Safety Day is a one-day educational and recognition event that celebrates Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) and Local Safety Team (LST) members from across the university.

When is Safety Day?

This day usually occurs in the first week of October. This year’s Safety Day will be held on Tuesday October 1, 2019 from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm in the Jack Poole Hall (2nd Floor) of the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre.

Why attend Safety Day?

Safety Day is an excellent opportunity to engage with your campus colleagues who also sit on safety committees and teams just like you! There will be lots of acknowledgement of everyone’s hard work and commitment through prizes and awards. The event will be catered (breakfast, coffee, tea and lunch). An agenda will be sent out to all participants once it is finalized.

Safety Day is also a day to learn more about Safety@UBC:

  • Carefully selected speakers will provide you with useful training, informative presentations, and thoughtful discussion.
  • Various university-wide resources will have booths to educate you about their services (Ergonomics, Workplace Health Services etc.).
  • This event can be used towards a Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee’s 8 hours of educational leave.

If you’re a committee member, you really don’t want to miss out. Click HERE to view the agenda for 2019!
