Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committees

What is a Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee (JOHSC)?

The Workers Compensation Act requires that most Employers in the province have a Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC).

Due to the number of staff and workers at UBC and the diversity of occupations and relative hazards, UBC has chosen to implement JOHSCs within all areas of the university.

Learn more about the structure of Health and Safety Committees at UBC in the Roles & Responsibilities section.

Applicable only to the UBC Vancouver Campus & affiliated sites in the Lower Mainland. For the Safety Committees at UBC Okanagan please refer to UBCO Health, Safety & Environment.
